Welcome to The Pigeon Igbo language Development Laboratory. Igbo language is the third largest language in Nigeria spoken by more than 18,000, 000 people in and outside of Nigeria. Igbo is also one of the languages identified by UNESCO as endangered because it lacks vitality, a quality measured by UNESCO as follows:
1. Absolute number of Igbo speakers is dwindling.
2. Proportion of Igbo speakers within Igbo land is dwindling.
3. Not enough materials for Igbo language education and literacy.
4. Igbo does not respond well to new domains and media.
5. Igbo does not have enough and quality documentations.
6. Official attitude towards Igbo language is lukewarm.
7. There has been a shift in the domain of Igbo language.
8. Attitude of Igbo language speakers towards the language is poor.
9. There have been very little foreign materials translated into Igbo language.
